About muslin
hutch&putch started with a love for a high-quality and unique fabric: muslin. The muslin fabric, woven from 100% organic cotton, is so special to us that we sew everything from it. Because our focus is so clear, we know exactly what we are doing. As an expert in muslin, you will only receive the very best quality from us - let our love for muslin infect you!
What makes our products special:
A unique fabric
Muslin is an airy, light, pure, robust and cuddly soft fabric - the perfect material for everything that comes into contact with our skin.
The name “Muslin” comes from the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, where it was discovered and often decorated with oriental patterns. Muslin describes a type of weave made from cotton in which slightly twisted threads create a flowing fabric with a soft feel and the characteristic “crinkle look”. It ensures that the fabric becomes even softer and more crinkly with each wash.
Breathable & uncomplicated
The double-layer processing of our products creates air chambers that ensure optimal air circulation. This means that the material has a cooling effect in summer and a slight heat-insulating effect in winter, which is why muslin is the perfect material for all year round.
Muslin is also particularly uncomplicated and easy to care for. We recommend a washing temperature of 40°C for most products, but they can also be washed up to 60°C without any problems. The fabric dries very quickly in the air and does not need to be ironed!
Muslin is extremely temperature-regulating, breathable, uncomplicated and absorbent, which makes it the ideal fabric, especially for baby and children's products, but also for home textiles such as bed linen.
100% organic cotton
Cotton is one of the most popular fabrics in the textile industry and for good reason. Cotton is known for its skin-friendliness and low allergy potential, which is particularly important for baby and children's products.
Because ecological responsibility is important to us, we make all of our products exclusively from the best muslin organic cotton. When growing organic materials, a lot less fresh water is used than for conventional cultivation (up to 91 percent less!). Organic cotton also protects the soil because there is no use of artificial fertilizers, synthetic pesticides and other agricultural poisons, which also keeps the groundwater clean.
