Sustainability and longevity. Two terms that are very important to us at hutch&putch. So that you can enjoy our products for as long as possible, it is important to care for them properly. We have created an overview for you of what you should consider when caring for our muslin products for more sustainability and longevity.
The most important thing at a glance - this is what you have to keep in mind with muslin:

- Washing drum fully loaded: For normal cooking/colored washing, the machine should be fully loaded so that a hand can still fit between the laundry and the drum. For “easy care” the machine should only be loaded half, for delicates 1/4 and for wool laundry 1/5. This way, your laundry will be clean and at the same time you will save energy and water.
- Dose detergent according to how dirty it is: Pay attention to the dosage information on your detergent. For most laundry, the dosage for “light” or “normal” laundry is sufficient. Overdosing will not make your laundry cleaner, it will simply lead to higher environmental pollution.
- Pay attention to water hardness: Ask your water company about the water hardness. Soft water requires the least amount of detergent. If the water hardness is in the “medium” to “hard” range, more detergent is required.
- Wash at a low temperature: The level of energy consumption when washing depends primarily on the temperature. This is also the reason why energy-saving programs take longer. With these, the water is heated less. In order to still get a good washing result, the laundry needs longer. In most cases, lightly and normally soiled colored laundry is cleaned at 20 to 30°C. Wash white at 40°C. However, you should wash once a month at 60°C to avoid the growth of germs.

- Machine wash at 40°C
- Air dry, tumble dry only on a gentle cycle on the lowest setting

- Machine wash at 60°C for the first wash. After the first wash cycle, you can set the washing cycles to lower temperatures of 30 to 40 degrees. This protects the color of the fabric and also protects the environment.

- Non-iron

Frequently asked questions
I ironed my muslin product. What can I do?
Muslin is a very easy-care fabric and therefore does not need to be ironed. If you have ironed muslin - no problem! It gets its structure back after the next wash.
How do I keep the look of my muslin products?
It's very simple! Muslin gets its typical “crinkle look” by slightly twisting the weaving thread. Later, the products become softer when washed and acquire the typical muslin characteristics.
How do I clean my muslin products if they are heavily soiled?
If there are stubborn stains on your muslin products, you can also clean our bed linen blankets at 60 degrees. For our other products, such as clothing and play mats, we recommend that you use conventional stain removers or household products to remove stains.
