April is here, and of course the Easter decorations shouldn't be missing on the first sunny days. We'll show you how you can use the colors of nature to easily dye your own Easter eggs.
Clean eggs
Before you start dyeing the eggs, you should clean them. A little vinegar and a kitchen towel are suitable for this, so the paint sticks better to the bowl.
Dye eggs green
- 300g parsley or leaf spinach
- Water
Crush the parsley or spinach leaves and put them in a pot. Add enough water to cover the leaves and simmer for 30 minutes.
Dye eggs blue
- 300g cultivated blueberries
- 500ml water
Mash the cultivated blueberries and put them in a pot with 500ml water. Let the whole thing simmer for 30 minutes.
Turn eggs yellow
- 50g coffee grounds or 4 tea bags of black tea
- 500ml water
Put coffee grounds and/or tea bags in a pot with 500ml water and let the whole thing simmer for 10 minutes. You can also use the coffee grounds from your morning coffee for this.
Dye eggs red
- 300g beetroot
- 500ml water
Crush the beetroot and put it in a pot with 500ml of water. Make sure you use fresh beets, as boiled ones don't release much color. Let the stock simmer for 30 minutes.
Tip: For all colors, the longer you let the brew simmer, the more intense the color will become.

Coloring eggs
Let the brew cool and pour it into different glasses. Meanwhile, you can cook your eggs for 8 - 10 minutes. The hard-boiled eggs should still be slightly warm when dyeing. Now add the eggs to the different colors and let them work. The longer you leave the eggs in the brew, the more intense the color will become. So please give them at least 30 minutes to take effect.
To make sure the color is evenly distributed, you can turn the eggs every now and then with a spoon.
At the end, take the eggs out of the stock and let them dry. To create a shiny effect, you can rub the Easter eggs with oil at the end.
