This is what you need for the pistachio snails:
For the dough:
- 500 g flour
- 280 g milk
- 60 g butter
- 50 g sugar
- 1 pk. Yeast
- 1 pk. Vanilla sugar
For the filling:
- 2 glasses of pistachio cream
- chopped pistachios
For the frosting:
- 100 g cream cheese
- 1 tbsp pistachio cream
Preparation:
Step 1: Place all dry ingredients in a bowl. Warm the butter and milk and add the mixture to the dry ingredients. Knead everything together and let the dough rest for 45-60 minutes.
Step 2: After the resting time, roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface and spread the warmed pistachio cream onto the dough. Sprinkle chopped and whole pistachios on top.
Step 3: Roll the dough into a long roll and cut it into even pieces.
Step 4: Put the snails in a baking dish, brush them with a little milk and bake them in the oven at 160 °C for 20-25 minutes.
Step 5: In the meantime, prepare the frosting. To do this, mix the cream cheese with the pistachio cream. Spread the frosting over the warm snails and let it set briefly before serving.
Tip: Serve the snails fresh from the oven - that's how they taste best! If you have any left over, you can store them in an airtight container.
